Transition- The Broad
This projects investigates the experience within the Broad Museum, with a focus on the circulation in shaping the transition of different spaces- from dark to open, intimate to public spaces. By directing the audience through the elevator, the most direct way through the top floor, one approaches the iconic facade through the transparent elevator shaft looking up. Then it proceeds to the escalator, which forms a unique tunnel experience that brings visitors up to a open bright gallery upon arrival. The emphasis on circulation serves to show a contrast between the gallery and lobby spaces. In the end, the dark intimate staircase shows a more private means through the museum building.
